Alexey Chernigin - a sandwich with a thin layer of oil

Modern oil painting - it's like a sandwich with a thin layer of butter - tasty, satisfying, but there is no feeling that overeaten. There are no dense swabs, attracting attention, deliberately careless and seemingly pressing on you. Do not feel the alarm or greatness with which the canvases of the old masters are filled.

The paintings of Alexei Chernigin are transparent and light, they are filled with inner light. A gentle palette envelops the viewer. This is especially noticeable in the portrait works of the artist. He presents the beauty of the female body in the form of bright silhouettes of nude nature, the faces of the girls play a secondary role, being in the shade, thus creating a slight understatement. One of the most famous compositional works is "Wave" - depicting a naked girl lying on the shore and washed by waves. In it there is no gram of vulgarity, the artist exalts the beauty of the female body, showing his unity with nature.

Looking through the numerous landscape works, you notice how expensive the artist places where he visited, how anxiously he tries to convey to us the beauty of the cities of Prague, Venice and his native Nizhny Novgorod. The tranquility of the city does not disturb the human presence, there is nothing superfluous, the city is frozen, posing for the artist, time has stopped.

The moments of genuine feelings in the pictures of Chernigin last endlessly. The couple in love froze at the moment of a kiss on a noisy street. Jesus bears a heavy cross, and past the cars fly by. Laughing girl rushed on a swing into the sky. Around everything is vain and fleeting, only true feelings are slow and thoughtful. Faith, love and beauty - now and forever. Nothing over them is powerful.
